Your system doesn't lose anything, but gains everything.Īnd believe it or not, even if someone uses MPC all the time, maybe a specific file causes a problem within MPC, or somebody wants to use player X because of a specific feature. Instead of telling me all the time that nobody should install it, you should rather tell me why not. You can't tell me that in this day and age of terabyte harddisks and gigabyte memory that you rather save 10MB instead of not having to worry about your systems general ability to handle any current form of media. It's not a permanently running process, it is simply there when called, but otherwise it takes nothing more than those 10MB on your harddrive. This isn't 1992 where you have to edit your autoexec.bat to save as much as possible of those 640k. ![]() ![]() Just installing MPC-HC won't give you that. And you get other benefits like thumbnails in explorer and more. ![]() People usually use their PCs for more than just opening MPC, and I can tell you they will be very happy if some program that tries to play/access/convert a mediafile through directshow will actually play it instead of an error-message. ![]() I'm sorry, but that way of thinking is obsolete.īy installing something like ffdshow just about ANY modern windows-program can decode any sort of video or audio.
